Acts 8 gives us the incredible account of Phillip who was in this amazing revival in Samaria being called out by the Spirit.
The Spirit said join thyself to this chariot.
For too long churches have pointed fingers at one another and condemned each other because of doctrinal misunderstandings and disagreements over truth. And instead of joining ourselves to each others chariot, and explaining what we believe, and sharing the truth more perfectly to each other, we have chosen to label and criticize one another. We’ve chosen to belittle one another’s faith and call each other heretics and apostates, when the truth of the matter is this. How can we expect anyone to understand what we are not willing to explain? And how can we explain it until we are willing to join up?
Dialogue is not compromise! Let’s keep this in context. This man had come to Jerusalem to worship. He was a worshipper of Jehovah! God sent Philip to the wilderness because an Ethiop-ian eunuch, a man who was not allowed into the temple because of his physical condition but was nonetheless a worshipper, was hungry for more. He was considered unclean by the establish-ment, but he was sincerely searching the scriptures and trying desperately to understand the message of Isaiah. And the Spirit said, go near and join thyself to this chariot.
Consider this. Phillip might have never seen the Ethiopian eunuch again! He never did translate as a number on his attendance board. But because of a divine merge that took place in a wilderness, the eunuch went home an evangelist with the revelation that Jehovah was Jesus Christ.
It’s time for all God’s children to come together. It’s time for all God’s sheep to share with each other what they know. It’s time for all God’s people to let go of tradition and get a hold of truth. It’s time for the Spirit to be poured out on all believers. It’s time for the Church to become one in Spirit, one in truth and one in mission. I invite you to join hands with us and together let’s turn this community upside down for Jesus Christ! |
