This quarter’s fat cow
celebration theme was old fashioned, and some folks even wore
clothing that would have been typical during the
1930's era. We
built a brush arbor on our platform and began the day by reflecting
on our heritage. It was amazing to see just how far we've
come over the last 70 plus years. The first church that
was built would not have even been able to accommodate our
Children's Church or Student Ministry attendance. But the
most exciting part of the service was getting to
celebrate all the new additions to the West Point family over
the last four
months.
Over 50 people were honored and over 40 were baptized in Jesus
name and most of them have already received the Gift of the Holy
Ghost which is promised to everyone who repents and is baptized.
It was once again noted by our Pastor that the number of
those who were baptized this quarter wouldn't have been able to
fit within the old frame church or first rock building.
The McGruders
were with us for this special service and they did a phenomenal
job of making the day a overwhelming success as they tied the
past to the present and increased our faith for the future.
Next we flooded out onto the property for dinner on the grounds
and a day filled with fall games and activities for everyone.
The day ended with a bonfire and a weenie roast and a four trailer
hayride. It was a blast, check out the photo gallery of
this event and make plans now to be at our next Spring
Celebration!
